Biography
John Rooney began his career as a photographer for the Associated Press in 1930. Over more than four decades, he covered a wide range of news events and sports, including the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City.
Renowned for his portraits and character studies of United Nations diplomats, public figures, and politicians, Rooney was recognised for his versatility and dedication to photojournalism. He retired from the Associated Press in 1974 after a distinguished career.
Rooney passed away in January 1985, at the age of 74.
