Brazilian football player Pelé (Edison Arantes do Nascimento) weeps for joy when Brazil wins the FIFA World Cup final after defeating guest land Sweden in Råsunda Stadium in Solna on 29 June 1958. It was the first time Brazil won the World Cup. Pelé rests his head on the shoulder of his teammate Didi (Waldyr Pereira), on the right is Brazil's goalkeeper, Gylmar dos Santos Neves.
Biography
Swedish photojournalist Gunnar Tingsvall, who died in 1994, worked most of his life for the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet. He covered many international sports events in the 1960s and 70s, such as the Olympics and the Football World Cups. Later, he became Aftonbladet’s photo editor in chief. Tingsvall also worked as a writing journalist. He had a monthly column about photo-equipment in Aftonbladet and wrote about travelling, cars and boats for other publications.
