Swedish photographer Folke Hellberg (1929–2018) was part of the post–World War II generation of Swedish press photographers, when newspapers maintained large photo departments.

Known for his speed and adaptability, Hellberg covered assignments around the world, working in the era before digital photography when images were developed and transmitted from the field.

Hellberg was awarded in the 1983 World Press Photo Contest with his image in the print sale. This photograph was on the wall of his room at his nursing home until he died in 2018.
