Biography
Ekkehart Sachse discovered photography after an early career in the insurance industry. He studied at a private photography school in Hamburg, Germany, before joining Stern magazine’s black-and-white lab. A year later, he joined Hörzu as a staff photographer, capturing portraits of notable figures from show business, radio, television, and Hamburg's famed Star-Club. One of his early works there was his portrait of James Baldwin.
After over 14 years at Hörzu, Sachse became Northern Germany correspondent and photographer for the Kövesdi Press Agency in Munich. Later, he collaborated with the German Red Cross Hospital in Mölln-Ratzeburg, curating photographic art for its spaces.
Now retired, Sachse photographs for personal joy, focusing on nature and everyday beauty.
